Job Title: Sport Scientist

Overview: As a sport scientist you will be an integral in evaluating and optimising human performance, allied healthcare and well-being the application of scientific principles and evidence-based practices. Your role will involve conducting performance assessments (physical, physiological, biomechanical and tactical), contributing to data insights, assisting in the planning of interventions to optimize performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Performance Testing and Analysis:
    • Conduct thorough performance assessments utilizing standardized protocols and advanced measurement tools.
    • Analyze athlete performance data to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
    • Provide actionable insights to coaches and athletes based on performance test results and analysis.
  2. Research:
    • Contribute to research projects aimed at advancing knowledge in sports science and performance analysis.
    • Collaborate with researchers to design experiments, collect data, and analyze findings.
    • Stay current with emerging trends and developments in performance testing and analysis.
  3. Data Analytics:
    • Utilize sophisticated data analytics techniques to extract meaningful insights from athlete performance data.
    • Develop models and algorithms to identify patterns, trends, and correlations within large datasets.
    • Present findings in a clear and concise manner to inform decision-making processes.
  4. Assist in Intervention Planning:
    • Work closely with coaches and sports scientists to develop targeted interventions aimed at improving athlete performance.
    • Provide input on intervention strategies based on data-driven insights and scientific evidence.
    • Monitor the effectiveness of interventions and make recommendations for adjustments as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in sports science, exercise physiology, biomechanics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in performance testing and analysis within a sports or research setting.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., R, Python, SPSS) and data visualization tools.
  • Strong research skills, including the ability to critically evaluate scientific literature and contribute to research projects.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a passion for using data to drive performance improvements.
