Sport Scientist - Strength and Conditioning

Job Title:  Sport Scientist – Strength and Conditioning 

Overview: As a Strength and Conditioning Coach, you will be involved in informed intervention physical performance, allied healthcare, and well-being for individuals of varying fitness levels, including athletes and recreational enthusiasts. Your role extends beyond traditional programming and goal setting to include undertaking assessments that inform intervention in a group led holistic approach to optimise potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Client Assessment:
    • Conduct comprehensive assessments both objective and subjective to evaluate clients’ current physical and physiological levels, movement patterns, and health status.
    • Gather information on clients’ goals, preferences, and any existing medical conditions or limitations.
  2. Program Design and Implementation:
    • Develop individualized strength and conditioning programs tailored to clients’ needs, preferences, and goals.
    • Curate and modify tailored sessions with varied exercises and training modalities to improve strength, flexibility, cardiovascular fitness, and overall functional capacity.
    • Adapt programs as needed based on clients’ progress, feedback, and any changes in their health status.
  3. Monitor and Progress Tracking:
    • Monitor clients’ progress regularly through objective measures, performance assessments, and subjective feedback.
    • Track improvements in functional movement patterns and overall progress.
    • Adjust programs as needed to ensure continued progression and prevent plateaus or overtraining.
  4. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physiotherapists, sport scientists, and coaches, to provide holistic support for clients’ well-being.
    • Communicate effectively with clients to establish realistic expectations, address concerns, and celebrate achievements.
    • Foster a supportive and inclusive training environment that empowers clients of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds to thrive.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or a related field
    Certification from a recognized fitness organization is required.
  • Proven experience as a strength and conditioning coach with a diverse clientele.
  • Working knowledge of exercise physiology and biomechanics.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills.
  • Passion for promoting health, athlete performance, and well-being for individuals of all ages and abilities.
